Race for a Cause
The Junction City Corporate Pinewood Derby brings together businesses, teams, and community leaders for an exciting evening of friendly competition and fun.
Teams build and race Pinewood Derby cars while enjoying food and beverages. The event supports Scouting America – Coronado Area Council and helps provide leadership development, outdoor adventures, and life-changing opportunities for youth across our communities.
Whether you are racing a car or cheering from the sidelines, your participation helps prepare young people to become the leaders of tomorrow.

Enjoy an exciting evening of Pinewood Derby racing, friendly competition, hors d’oeuvres, and beverages while supporting Scouting America.
This adult-only event brings together local businesses, community leaders, and racing teams for a fun night that helps support youth leadership development and outdoor adventures through Scouting.
$40 per person • $60 per couple
Official Rules
Junction City Corporate Pinewood Derby
- Width: Maximum 2-3/4″
- Length: Maximum 7″
- Weight: 5 oz (Classic), 8 oz (Outlaw). Official scales used.
- Clearance: 1-3/4″ wheel spacing, 3/8″ ground clearance minimum
- Construction: Free-wheeling, no starting devices or loose parts
- All cars must pass inspection before competing
- Inspectors may disqualify cars not meeting specifications
- Cars may be corrected until registration closes
- Owners will be informed of failure reasons
- No reinspection after approval unless damaged
- Cars impounded after weigh-in
- No modifications after impound
- Repairs allowed only for broken wheels or axles
- Repairs must be done in Official Pit Area
- Only approved parts and methods allowed
- Race Officials’ decisions are final
- Arguments with officials result in disqualification
- No bearings, washers, or bushings
- No spring suspension
- Only official Pinewood Derby wheels and axles allowed
- Only dry lubricant permitted
- Decorative details allowed within size/weight limits
- Must remain free-wheeling
Each car must pass inspection. Owners will be informed of failures and may correct issues within the weigh-in period. After final approval, cars will not be reinspected unless damaged.

- Wheels: Any non-metal material/design
- Axles: Any design
- Bearings/Springs: Allowed (including washers, bushings, etc.)
