2010 National Boy Scout Jamboree
The Coronado Area Council Contingent to the 2010 National Scout Jamboree
Scouts from the Coronado Area Council will have the opportunity to attend a National Scout Jamboree, July 26 - August 4, 2010, at Fort A.P. Hill, Caroline County, Virginia. Our council will be taking two troops, each troop will have 36 Scouts and four adult leaders. In 2005 there were over 40,000 Scouts and leaders in attendance from all over the country and the world. It is an experience of a lifetime and one you won't want to miss, as the Boy Scouts of America celebrate their 100th anniversary. Imagine ten days of fun and activities - all day long - every day - plus some spectacular arena shows with great entertainment, and an opportunity to tour some of our country's historic past.
In 2005, our contigent had a 16-day trek and toured the arch in St. Louis; in Chattanooga, TN they saw the Tennessee Aquarium, IMAX 3DTheater and Lookout Mountain, next a drive up the Skyline Drive headed for Washington, D.C. During two and a half days in D.C. they saw the Smithsonian, Mount Vernon, the capitol, Sunday service at the National Cathederal, etc. After the jamboree a stop at Gettysburg Military Park and in the Lincoln museum in Springfield, IL.
Scouts must be at least 12 years of age by the start of the jamboree and not have reached age 18 before the end of the jamboree. Start making plans now for your Scouts to attend.
Contact the Council Service Center to request a 2005 DVD to see more about a trip of a lifetime or to schedule a promotion this spring to your Scouts and parents.
