College of Commissioner Science

College of Commissioner Science is continuing education for commissioners.  It is formatted after college courses and degrees.  There are numerous courses you can take to earn your bachelor, master, or doctor of commissioner science degrees. While some courses are offered during the year, ten courses will be offered during the annual University of Scouting in November.  They will be on a four-year cycle ensuring that everyone has a chance to take the classes needed to complete their degrees.  The cycle is as follows (subject to revision)

*BCS 102 and BCS 107 are offered at different venues.  The doctor's program is a one-year program that begins at one University of Scouting and is completed at the following one.  Courses are offered throughout the year to complete the curriculum.

Bachelor of Commissioner Science (BCS) Requirements

Prerequisites - Currently registered at commissioner, complete commissioner orientation, and complete basic training.

Course Requirements - complete seven courses of instruction with at least five at the bachelor's program level.

Performance - Approval of district commissioner and district executive

Master of Commissioner Science (MCS) Requirements

Prerequisites - Completion of bachelor's degree or have been awarded the Commissioner's Key, earned Arrowhead Honor, currently registered as commissioner.

Course Requirements - complete additional seven courses of instruction (14 total) with at least seven at the master's program level.

Performance - Approval of district commissioner and district executive

Doctor of Commissioner Science (DCS) Requirements

Prerequisites - Completion of master's degree, have been awarded the Commissioner's Key, currently registered as commissioner.

Course Requirements - complete ten additional courses of instruction (24 total) with at least five at the doctor's program level.

Thesis or Research Project - complete a thesis or research project on any topic of value to Scouting in the local council (topic and final paper must be approved by the dean of the doctors program and staff adviser.

Performance - Serve as faculty for College of Commissioner Science for at least one year, recruit at least three new commissioners, approval of district commissioner and district executive.
