Youth GrantMakers Council Opens Up Grants for Salina Area Youth

Youth GrantMakers Council, a project of the Greater Salina Community Foundation is comprised of twenty-three high school students that meet every other Monday during the school year.  Members discuss issues that are facing the youth of Saline County.  This council also learns how philanthropy and grant making can solve these issues.  Members create the grant applications, solicit them to the youth int he community, and then decide where the grant dollars would be spent.

The spring cycle for grant applications are due March 8.  Applications are available on the Youth GrantMakers WebsiteExternal Link.  Opportunties to nominate someone for 2010 Youth Citizenship and ways that your Scouts can become a member of the council is also available on their website.

These grants must be submitted by youth.  This may provide a great avenue for Eagle Project funding or other community projects by packs, troops, teams, posts, and crews in Saline County.  Please share this information with your Scouts.
