Coronado Scout Newsletter Goes Paperless in 2008
Have you heard about the electronic “E-News” version of the Coronado Scout Newsletter? If you have not yet signed up to receive the newsletter via e-mail you will want to visit our website soon and do just that, because the final paper version of the Coronado Scout has just been published.
Why are we going paperless? There are several reasons. First, while we have been producing five to six printed newsletters annually we can provide more frequent communication with an e-newsletter (at least 12 issues annually). Plus, our print newsletter is written about 14 days before it arrives in your mailbox because of copy deadlines and the use of outside printing and handling services, but “E-News” arrives in your inbox within hours of its completion.
We plan to make the topics within “E-News” timely so that you can immediately link from the e-mail to articles or forms on our council website that you are interested in signing up for or learning more about. Finally, the council will be conserving resources. We currently print about 86,000 pages each year in order to distribute our newsletters. “E-News” eliminates the need for all that paper and dramatically cuts printing and postage costs required to communicate.
How to Sign Up
If you dont already have a MyCouncil membership, click the link below to create one. The website will collect some profile information from you and on Step 4 be sure to check the box for "Receive the Coronado Area Council E-News".
If you already have a MyCouncil membership, edit your profile by signing in to the website and clicking the "Your Profile" link in the upper right corner of the site. On the Subscriptions tab, check the box for the Coronado Area Council E-News.
I Dont Do Computers!
If you simply “don’t do computers”, don’t fret. Contact the Council Service Center to find out how to receive printed copies of “E-News” so you can stay informed about council news. We hope you find this to be a better service from the council, and as always we thank you for all you do for Scouting
