Executive Board Adopts Forever Funds

The executive board of the Coronado Area Council passed at its last regular meeting the adoption of the Forever Funds as a vehicle to allocate endowment funds given to the council.

Jim Waters, Vice President of Endowment, proposed that prospective donors will have the option of directing or designating their endowed gift into one of four categories:  Adventure Fund, Good Turn Fund, Trustworthy Fund and Be Prepared Fund.  This will ensure that the intent of the donor will be carried out.

The Adventure Fund will be designated for the council's camps, properties and related programming.  The Good Turn Fund will be used for financial assistance to families unable to afford Scouting through registration, uniform, books and camperships.  The Trustworthy Fund will be for overall council operations and the Be Prepared Fund will be used for emergencies and unexpected repairs.

All four funds will make up the council's endowment.  Gifts can be outright or deferred, in the form of cash, property, or stocks, and can be done by an individual, group, or in honor of someone.  Recognition of the support will be at the donor's discretion along with the endowment committee.

Consider putting Scouting in your will or estate plan.  See the flyer for details and also check out the Endowment page of the council's website.  For more information or questions as to how you can be involved as a donor or on the committee, contact Jim Waters or Stacy Huff.
