Centennial Encampment Sites Narrowed to Five

The Centennial Encampment Committee Cabinet led by Robert Russell met to review twelve different locations for the 100th Anniversary event.  Each site was researched as to Accessibility, Visibility, Camping Opportunities, Area Attractions, Existing Infrastructure, Emergency Services, and Parking.  The group narrowed the list to five potential sites that would be scrutinized further to see whether they would be feasible.

The sites, in no particular order, are:  Fort Riley, Great Plains Training Center (former Salina Bombing Range), Oakdale Park (Salina), Fort Hays State University, and Camp Brown (along with Brown Memorial Park).

The cabinet has divided up the sites and a more detailed set of needs have been developed.  The cabinet will communicate via email in order to finalize site selection by June 30th.   The next meeting of the leadership team will take place on Tuesday, July 14th at the council service center at 3:30 p.m.
