Another Great Camping Season at Camp Hansen Comes to a Close
Fifty Boy Scout troops attended this years Boy Scout Summer Camp at the Dane G. Hansen Scout Reservation. Camp Director Rex Lowe reports that 485 youth and 144 leaders camped over the three-week program. In addition, 16 Cub Scout packs brought 67 Cub Scouts and 47 parents and leaders to the Cub and Webelos Resident Camp that took place the weekend after Boy Scout camp ended.
Not only were hundreds of merit badges earned by Scouts, the camp staff trained adult leaders in Safe Swim Defense (34), Safety Afloat (33), BSA Chain Saw Safety (22), Leave No Trace (30), Youth Protection (32), Trek Safely (33), and Climb on Safely (28). From Golden Eagle ceremonies, lunch-time programs, and campfires to shotgun shooting, trail biking, and canoeing, fun was had by all. Thanks to Rex and the entire Summer Camp staff for a great summer!
Twenty-nine troops have already registered to attend Camp Hansen in 2011. Do not let your troop be left out. Call Shannon Williams and get your troop on the list. We look forward to seeing you again next summer.
If you have some great photos of your experience at Summer Camp at either Camp Hansen or Brown, please email them to Wayne Pancoast to be added to our council Facebook page. Include a caption in the email as to what the picture is.
