Moran Speaks at Friends of Scouting Kick-off in Salina

Congressman Jerry Moran was the keynote speaker for the Salina Community Friends of Scouting Kick-off held February 26 at the Salina Country Club.  Over 100 Scouts, Scouters, and supporters attended the breakfast event to hear about what Scouting is doing in the Salina area and for the 100th Anniversary.

Congressman Moran, a Life Scout from Plainville, Kansas, shared with the audience his memories of Scouting.  He stressed the impact of leaders on the youth and encouraged everyone that change can only happen in one's heart.  Scouting is a avenue for that change (Salina Journal articleExternal Link).

Scouts and Venturers from Salina conducted the flag ceremony.  Council board member Frank Hampton served as master of ceremonies.  Included in the program were Dennis Lull, Council Vice-President on Finance, District Chairman Scott Bergkamp, Council Executive Stacy Huff, and Salina Community Co-Chair Mike Payne.

The Salina community kicked of with over $50,000 of its $80,000 goal.  The Coronado Area Council would like to thank those in attendance along with all the people of Salina that support the Scouting program.
