The Konza District Cub Scout Day Camp was a great way for cub scouts to ease into the hot summer days with their fellow scouts.  The camp, held at Cico Park in Manhattan, had about 70 scouts in attendance.  The day camp activities ranged from water activities to arts and crafts.  Cub scouts were able to complete their map and compass belt loop, marbles belt loop and BB gun and archery belt loops.  A cub scout was featured on the front page of the Manhattan Mercury demonstrating his skills while completing the BB gun belt loop.

The Manhattan Fire Department was also able to participate in the day camp for the Egg Drop activity.  Cub scouts were advised to wrap an egg in whatever material they felt would best protect their egg and then the egg was dropped from the ladder of the fire truck.  Many of the cub scouts’ eggs survived the fall.

Success of the day camp would not have been possible with out the great volunteers who donated their valuable time and skills.  After all the hard work, the last day of camp was a way for these volunteers to relax and have a good time with the cub scouts.  A water war was the final activity - the adults versus the cub scouts!  No winners were announced but it was safe to say everyone had a great time.

Another day camp is planned for July 17th, 18th and 19th in the Junction City area.  Details will follow.
